Sculpture

The art of Dragan Malešević Tapi covers a much wider range than has been presented to the public so far. In the last years of his creativity, Tapi was mainly engaged in sculpture, sometimes neglecting painting for a few months at a time. These works indicate the fact that the author continued his research in the domain of hyperrealism in mass and the third dimension, still emphasizing the credibility of the form. Tapi painted certain sculptures in the manner of ancient or medieval masters, i.e. he painted according to his own "style" and feeling. Thus, in these works, a set of all the qualities of a sculpture with the qualities of a painting was obtained, which contributes to an even stronger veristic impression, especially considering the combination of color and refraction of light. This can best be seen in the sculpture of a freshly cut watermelon. The largest number of sculptures was created in the period between 1993 and 1994 and from 1999 to 2002.
