Ocean and underwater world

In Tapi's pictures of the ocean depths and troubled seas, the colors are adapted to the night experience, and the tones are dark in the range from deep black and blue to a light accent that means the hope of the dawn or the fear of the next thunder in the storm that engulfed the ship. In these paintings the storm has a creative power, all the old gods control the storms, Tapi creates the storms from which his art is born. The ocean as a large body of water is the source of life, the life of people on its surface. As a young man, Tapi started exploring the underwater world as a diver. He saw the life of fish, jellyfish, octopus, nautilus, clams and snails, and when he emerged, all he had to do was transfer it to the canvas.
The underwater world in Tapi's paintings is not only an illustrative encyclopedia for the curious, but a world in which the artist finds the possibility to depict the most unusual forms of nature in the darkness of the ocean depths, with light and fullness of color, suitable for his discerning eye for observation and skillful hand for shaping. Although the meaning of motifs from the underwater world in art is well known, Tapi, with the last two relief paintings from this series of motifs, "Nautilus II" and "Night of Nautilus", created his own symbolism of birth and duration, which can have its source in Tapi, who knew the laws and teachings of the Masons.
